Lesson Overview

In this lesson, we provide a variety of inspirational approaches for planning a class including options for short-notice planning, plus a lengthier and more methodical process.

Objective

Be inspired and prepared to plan a meaningful class, even at the times when you’re feeling uninspired or disorganized.

Description

What can you do when you’ll be teaching soon but you need some inspiration or help in organizing your thoughts? Sometimes the problem is the overwhelming breadth of options available. And sometimes it’s wishing for a burst of creativity or freshness. For those times when you’re feeling uncentered… or disorganized… or stuck in a rut, this lesson will support you in choosing a class focus as well as refining and implementing a class plan.

When You’re Feeling Uncentered

When you’re feeling distracted, less prepared than you like, nervous, or otherwise not centered, how do you focus your mind before teaching? Don’t forget the many yogic tools at your disposal:

And perhaps it will help to remember that you are clearing your mind to be present and connected to the students you love to serve.

LOVE AND PASSION

All great instructors share a very significant trait. They love people and are extremely passionate about what they do. When there is love, people radiate, and you can see the glow. Where there is love, there is no fear, judgment or separation. When we understand at a core level, our connection to all things, we will have reached the true goal and meaning of yoga. – Jodie Rufty
