Introduction & Inspiration

Introduction

Surya Namaskar and Vinyasa Yoga warm the body and provide other physical effects. In addition, these practices (and others) may be approached in ways that highlight aspects beyond the physical. Here you’ll find support for exploring such practices. For example, focusing on the breath as the source of movement can provide a pathway for deepening the experience, and there can be a focused awareness of the practice as “a gateway to entering your subtle body.”

Specific practices such as focusing on gratitude, invoking inspirational visualizations or mentally reciting affirmations can bring a devotional quality to the practice. In other words, the practice can be used as a tool to direct one’s gratitude or respect toward the cosmos or Life, to the Self, the Divine, to Nature, God or other.
