Overview

In this lesson, we introduce shoulder internal rotation hovers, an end-range conditioning exercise that builds active control in internally rotated positions.

Objective

Gain understanding of how to stabilize and hold the shoulder actively at the edge of its internal rotation range without external support.

What You'll Get

You'll suspend your shoulder in space at its internal rotation limit, building strength and neurological ownership of the position. Hovers turn passive flexibility into active capacity—you're teaching your body to control what it can currently only access with help. This translates to steadier binds, more controlled transitions through internal rotation, and less shoulder fatigue in rotated positions. For teachers and therapists, it's a clear test of whether a client's internal rotation is functional or just flexible.
