Yoga feels harder some days, is that normal?

This is Ashtanga Yoga Tech Support. Real questions from the yoga community, answered.

The Question

I’ve been doing yoga regularly for a few weeks now and I noticed some days feel much harder than others. On some days I feel flexible and balanced, and on other days even basic poses feel difficult. I’m not sure if this is normal or if I’m doing something wrong. Would like to hear if others experience this too. submitted by /u/thisismythrwawayacnt

Our Response

Yeah. It's normal.

You're not doing something wrong.

Your body changes every day. Sleep quality. Hydration. Stress. What you ate. Where you are in your cycle if that applies. All of it shows up on the mat.

Some days you'll float through. Other days you'll feel like you're moving through concrete.

That's the practice.

Here's what matters: you showed up anyway.

Ashtanga is six days a week for a reason. It's not about having six perfect days. It's about seeing the pattern over time. The good days. The hard days. The weird days where nothing makes sense.

Stop judging each practice as good or bad. Just notice it. Oh, today's a heavy day. Okay. Keep breathing.

The flexibility will come and go. The balance will come and go. The steadiness you build by showing up regardless? That stays.

You're a few weeks in. You're right on track.
