This is Ashtanga Yoga Tech Support. Real questions from the yoga community, answered.
Blessed to have spent the morning practicing yoga outside. After I left my studio a few weeks ago I’ve been trying to find an environment that I can recharge myself and make yoga my own. Finally found that space today. submitted by /u/No_Elephant506

Good. You left. You practiced. You found something.
That's the work.
Studios are useful. Teachers matter. But if you can't practice without them, you don't have a practice. You have a dependency.
Ashtanga's designed to be portable. Six days a week. Same sequence. You memorize it. You do it. Anywhere.
Outside's great. So's your living room. A hotel room. A patch of dirt.
The recharge thing? That's you learning to generate your own heat. Your own attention. Your own container.
You don't need permission. You don't need mood lighting.
You need a mat and the willingness to show up when nobody's watching.
If you're new to self-practice and you want structure, check out the Self-Practice study guide on ashtanga.tech. It'll help you build the habit.
But you already did the hardest part. You started.
Keep going.
